Singapore Ranked Sixth Top City Brand World Brand Finance Global City Index
Singapore has once again proven its position as a global leader, ranking sixth in the world according to the latest Brand Finance Global City Index. This index, conducted by London-based brand evaluation and strategy consultancy Brand Finance, measures cities based on brand power and perceptions.
The index was compiled from a survey of 15,000 individuals across 20 countries in September, ranking 100 cities based on key performance indicators to determine their appeal as a place to live, work, study, visit, retire and invest in. Respondents were also asked to associate particular attributes with each city, choosing from a list of 45 grouped under seven pillars such as Business & Investment and Culture & Heritage.
Singapore’s overall ranking was boosted by its strong performance in the business and investment pillar, placing third globally. This includes factors such as the ease of doing business, economic strength and support for start-ups. The city also scored well for low crime and violence.
Alex Haigh, managing director for Asia Pacific at Brand Finance, praises Singapore as the “crown jewel” of the ASEAN region in terms of city branding. He notes how the city excels in areas such as economic expansion, investment appeal and world-class infrastructure, solidifying its position as a premier global financial centre.
