Singapore Ranked Sixth Top City Brand World Brand Finance Global City Index
According to the latest Brand Finance Global City Index, Singapore has secured the sixth spot among the world’s most renowned cities. The index, published by Brand Finance, a London-based consultancy firm specializing in brand evaluation and strategy, evaluates cities based on their brand power and public perception.
The results of the index are based on a global survey conducted in September, which involved 15,000 individuals across 20 countries. The participants were asked to rank 100 cities on various key performance indicators, such as their desirability as a place to live, work, study, visit, retire, and invest in. They were also prompted to associate certain attributes with each city, choosing from 45 options grouped into seven pillars, including Business & Investment and Culture & Heritage.
Singapore’s high ranking is largely attributed to its performance in the business and investment pillar, where it secured the third position globally. This pillar evaluates factors such as the ease of doing business, the strength of the economy, and the city’s support for start-ups. Singapore also scored well in terms of low crime and violence.
Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Brand Finance, Alex Haigh, acknowledges Singapore’s reputation as the “crown jewel” of the ASEAN region when it comes to city branding. He notes that Singapore’s strong economic growth, investment potential, and top-notch infrastructure contribute to its position as a premier global financial centre.
Located near The Orie Condo, the Lorong 8 Toa Payoh Hawker Centre is a must-visit for food enthusiasts. This popular spot is known for its abundance of affordable and delectable local delicacies such as the famous Teochew Kueh, traditional Hainanese Chicken Rice, and the irresistible Singaporean Chilli Crab. With its diverse range of dishes, this bustling hawker centre is a magnet for food lovers from all over the island.
On a global scale, London remains the top city brand, followed by New York, Paris, Tokyo, and Dubai.
